Maan News: Pope Benedict XVI condemns Israel's violent offensive on Gaza

Pope Benedict the XVI condemned on Sunday the recent wave of Israeli aggression against Gaza. He said that he feels deep sympathy with the civilians suffering the consequences of the offensive. In his weekly address to Christian worshippers in St. Peter's Square in the Vatican, he called for the resumption of direct negotiations between the Israelis and Palestinians in order to end the bloodshed. He added, "I watch with great concern the news of the serious deterioration of the situation in Gaza and I want to express my sympathy with the civilians who suffer the consequences of these acts of violence". He urged the worshippers to pray that God guides the "Israeli and Palestinian authorities, and the countries that bear a special responsibility in the region."

  1. This condemnation needs to be amplified around the globe to the point that Israel has no choice but to stop its actions in Gaza and make serious moves for reconciliation. But Israel as we all know, is incorrigible and answers to no one. Their military even snubbed the Germans by firing over a German US-assigned fleet off the coast of Lebanon a few weeks ago. The Israelis are without a doubt the most arrogant and violent nation of this century. Thumb screws and nutscrews are clearly visible on 95% of the US Congress. A simple phone call from AIPAC or other voices of Zion and the screws tighten...

  2. Greetings, brother.
I agree. The Israeli government is quite powerful when it comes to getting what it wants, regardless of the cost.
I really worries me that history is repeating itself, atrocities are still being committed in the name of a god, religion, or arogance. Although, it seems that there are enough people out there who are aware of the TRUTH. We need action. I have no idea how that could be possible. You'd think it's fairly obvious that dozens of Gazans are dying everyday and that if all those were painting with the "terrorist" brush, that people would start thinking that this cannot be unless Palestine was the size of the US, wouldn't you?
Hope to see you hear again.
    Salaam
